Des rues pavées d'or

Eh bien, je suis venu en Amérique parce que j'ai entendu dire que les rues étaient pavées d'or. Quand je suis arrivé ici, j'ai découvert trois choses : premièrement, les rues n'étaient pas pavées d'or ; deuxièmement, elles n'étaient pas pavées du tout ; et troisièmement, on s'attendait à ce que je les pave.

Well, I came to America because I heard the streets were paved with gold. When I got here, I found out three things: first, the streets weren’t paved with gold; second, they weren’t paved at all; and third, I was expected to pave them.
